I had very similar thoughts on the using d6s for Prince Valiant despite getting the kickstarter coins. I did absolutely fall in love with the art style and the lack of word bubbles. It adds to the feeling of the short comics being something almost dreamlike.
Glad you've found and appreciated Prince Valiant! I'm collecting and reading the big Fantagraphics volumes. I was lucky enough to pick up a copy of the Stafford game a little while ago too - haven't had a chance to play it, unfortunately.
I'm really keen to try out Luke Gearing's game Wolves Upon the Coast - it has very much a Val feel to the setting.
