this is great! i love this kind of thing. the Clone Wars is so emblematic of this--chef's kiss. i remember finding the "Big Mistake" in the Hyperion series a lot of fun, too--if I remember right, it's not fully explained. sometimes when i GM Mothership, i sprinkle in a little about "Old Earth" and its "Water Wars", etc. to contextualize an artifact or reanimated long-frozen player character's backstory. The players roll with it and sometimes add their own brief contributions. i would like to branch out to other juicy details.
one thing about about your memory lathe: why not capitalize it to Memory Lathe, so it stands out. maybe it's a technique, a technological intervention, etc. (perhaps never revealed?) but i think you could justify making it into a proper noun and it will help readers parse it as a concept unique to this universe
yeah, it's a bit of a toss up. not sure if you would agree or not... when it isn't presented as proper noun, perhaps a reader would find it more immersive (i.e., memory lathe is just a thing that happens in this fictional universe, why give it special attention?) but if i understand right, it is not presented in primarily diegetic or in-universe material (right?). keep up the great work on MAC and this newsletter

It should be capitalised! I'll definitely fix that.

Love this Chris! Excited to try MAC Attack soon!
In anyone working on an Alpha Strike inspired hack yet!?!? Lmao
I mainly use Battletech mechs for my MACs, so it's definitely possible to bring them over!
